1. Tortugas Mountain 

Located at 4596 Dripping Springs Road, Tortugas Mountain offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. You can walk around the mountain or hike the steep, rocky trails that take you to the top. You can go straight up or take a longer, winding trail to get some leg work in.

2. Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park 

Drive to Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park at 5000 Calle Del Norte for a peaceful nature hike. There are several other trails in the park for you to explore as you enjoy a quiet time in nature. Pets are allowed, but they have to be leashed.

Besides the trail system, this park offers various amenities. There are picnic tables for you to enjoy a quiet lunch after your stroll. You can also tour the gardens and explore the exhibits in the visitor center. Birds are plentiful in the park, making this a perfect attraction for bird lovers.

3. Sierra Vista Trail

The Sierra Vista Trail is a scenic, 29-mile hiking trail that runs along the edge of the Organ Mountains. There are several trailheads, with the closest located seven miles up University Avenue/Dripping Springs Road (Exit 1) east of Interstate 25. You can hike the entire trail or sections of it.

The trail offers breathtaking views of the mountains that stand tall above the desert floor. There are lots of wildflowers and cacti to see along the way as well. This trail is perfect for mountain biking, so you can bring your bike for a more thrilling adventure in the desert.  

4. La Llorona Park

La Llorona Park, located at 3440 W Picacho Avenue, offers a long, paved hiking trail by the Rio Grande. The riverside offers numerous spots to enjoy a picnic or relax. The landscape in this park is pleasant for a relaxed stroll or bike ride. There is also a lovely playground for kids.
