4 Signs Your Volkswagen Has Alternator Problems

An alternator plays a crucial role in charging the battery and powering various accessories in your car. However, if it starts malfunctioning, it can lead to several issues, such as battery problems and failing electronics. Keep an eye out for the following warning signs that indicate your Volkswagen needs an alternator repair from your Volkswagen dealer in Las Cruces, NM. What are the Signs of Needing Alternator Service? 1. Electronic Issues When the alternator in your car is not working correctly, it can lead to fluctuating voltage, which can affect the lights and accessories. The computer in your car will cut power to non-essential accessories, causing various electronic issues. If the alternator is not generating enough power, you will notice that your headlights and dashboard lights are not as bright. The headlights will give off consistent light, fluctuating between dim and bright when accelerating. A failing alternator can also affect your car's power locks, electrical windows, windshield wipers, and heated seats. 2. Battery Problems If your car's battery becomes weak or dies, it's not always a sign of a bad battery. A malfunctioning alternator could cause the battery to lose power as it doesn't receive the charge it needs. When the voltage fluctuates, it will trigger the battery warning light. A jump-start may temporarily get your Volkswagen running, but it does not confirm whether the battery or alternator is at fault. If the battery repeatedly loses its charge or the vehicle stalls after starting, have the charging system inspected by a qualified technician. 3. Unusual Noises When your car's alternator is not functioning correctly, it can lead to specific noises from under the hood. The alternator consists of several moving components, and a problem or breakage in one of these parts can cause unusual noises, including whining, growling, grinding, or rattling. You may hear these sounds due to a misaligned belt, a belt rubbing against the pulley, or worn bearings. In severe cases, a failing alternator can contribute to other engine problems, resulting in rattling or other unusual sounds. 4. Burning Smells If you detect the smell of burning rubber or electrical components inside the cabin, it may be a warning sign that your alternator is having problems. A burning rubber smell can occur when the alternator belt wears down and generates excessive heat due to friction. An electrical odor may indicate that the alternator is overworked or that there is an issue with the vehicle's electrical system. How Can You Tell If Your VW Alternator Is Failing? Some signs of a failing Volkswagen alternator can look similar to problems with the battery, serpentine belt, wiring, or other parts of the vehicle’s charging system. For example, dimming lights, difficulty starting, or a battery warning light do not always mean the alternator itself needs to be replaced. A qualified technician can inspect your Volkswagen and test the battery, alternator, and charging system to identify the source of the problem. Testing the charging system can help determine whether the alternator is producing the proper voltage and whether the battery is receiving the charge it needs. If you notice signs of a bad alternator or other electrical issues, schedule an inspection with the service team before the problem leads to a breakdown or additional component damage. Where to Schedule VW Alternator Service in Las Cruces It's important to take heed of these warning signs and take your Volkswagen for repairs as soon as possible. Ignoring alternator problems can further damage your car's components, resulting in more costly repairs. If you struggle with alternator issues, contact Sisbarro Autoworld Volkswagen today to schedule an appointment, and our certified Volkswagen technicians will perform the necessary repairs and ensure your vehicle runs at its best. Frequently Asked Questions What are the signs of a bad Volkswagen alternator? Common signs of a bad Volkswagen alternator include dimming or flickering lights, electrical problems, a battery warning light, difficulty keeping the battery charged, unusual noises from under the hood, and burning smells. These symptoms can also be caused by other charging-system or electrical problems, so a professional inspection can help identify the underlying issue. How do I know if my Volkswagen battery or alternator is bad? The problem may be either with the battery or the alternator if you are experiencing problems when starting your car because of low battery life. It is difficult to distinguish which component is faulty, so it is recommended that you test both of them. Is it possible to drive a Volkswagen car with a bad alternator? It is advised not to do it because if the alternator stops charging the battery, your car can run out of electricity and be unable to move. It is better to inspect your car if there are signs of alternator failure to avoid further problems. What causes Volkswagen alternator failure? There may be several reasons for it including wear, worn-out bearings, belt damage or misalignment, some electrical troubles and others. The problem can be different depending on the particular Volkswagen model and year of production. How does the Volkswagen alternator get tested? The mechanic will conduct the inspection of the alternator itself, the battery, belt and other parts of the charging system, as well as conduct an electric test to check if the alternator produces the right voltage.

A Bright And Beatiful Fireworks Display In The Night Sky

2026 Las Cruces July 4th Celebration Features Parades, Concerts, and Fireworks

This Sisbarro Volkswagen blog usually informs and celebrates all things Volkswagen, but we break from that to inform and celebrate our hometown of Las Cruces, NM, and its planned celebration of our country’s 250 th birthday.  Sisbarro Volkswagen hopes you take full advantage of the community’s celebration concert and fireworks display, Las Cruces and the New Mexico State Aggies have planned for this July 4 th. Independence Day is a unique holiday in many respects, one that emphasizes gathering and celebrating with families, neighbors, and the community over other elements. Although it sits in the middle of summer, there isn’t a formal Independence Day season per se – but there’s no reason you can’t start your celebration a little earlier than the calendar suggests. For instance, take the 2026 Las Cruces Electric Light Parade, which is part of the Las Cruces Fourth of July celebration. This fun event actually starts on Friday, July 3, at 9 P.M at Apodoca Park. Like fireworks, a light parade needs the dark of night, so the Parade travels south on Solano Drive, turns east on Hadley Avenue, and completes the route at the Maag Softball Complex. This year’s Light Parade, themed “Stars, Stripes and City Lights,” will illuminate the night with festive floats and decorated vehicles and will serve as the kickoff to the Independence Day weekend. Trophies are awarded first through third place in commercial and non-commercial categories, as well as a best overall float trophy. Floats are judged on originality, theme depiction, and effective use of lights. On the fourth itself, Las Cruces’ official celebration will be held at Pat & Lou Sisbarro Community Park, starting at 4:00 pm. The Pat & Lou Sisbarro Community Park officially opened in 2015 and serves as a reminder of the Sisbarro family’s commitment to community involvement. It is a free event featuring live musical performances and a massive fireworks show, with food vendors on-site throughout the evening. At 6:45, the concert begins with Las Cruces' favorites Triple Jack, known for their high-energy performances of classic rock, blues, and funk covers, as well as original music.  They will be followed at 8:00 pm by headliner 49 Winchester out of Castlewood, Virginia, with five released studio albums of their brand of Appalachian country rock.  And at 9:45 will be the start of the fireworks display to cap off our country’s 250 th birthday. Sisbarro Volkswagen hopes you attend our town’s festivities and wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day.

Sisbarro Original Store

45 Years of Sisbarro

The Sisbarro dealerships are celebrating a milestone anniversary—45 years serving the automotive needs of Las Cruces, Deming, and the communities of southern New Mexico. “It’s hard for me to believe, but for nearly half a century, Sisbarro has been more than just a place to buy a car; we’ve become a trusted partner for families, businesses, and drivers across southern New Mexico,” said Lou Sisbarro, President of the Sisbarro dealerships. Founded in 1981, Sisbarro Buick-Pontiac-GMC quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the Las Cruces automotive market. Over the years, the organization has grown to include Sisbarro Volkswagen (1985), Sisbarro Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram (1995), Sisbarro Truck Store, Sisbarro OnSale Tires, and CreditCars. “As southern New Mexico’s only locally owned and operated dealership group, we have a responsibility to give back,” Sisbarro said. “And today, with well over 125,000 vehicles sold, one of my proudest achievements is our 45-year connection to the community.  The dealerships have consistently supported local events, charities, and organizations, helping strengthen the fabric of Las Cruces and Deming. Whether it’s sponsoring youth programs, participating in community fundraisers, or simply providing reliable transportation options, Sisbarro has made a lasting impact beyond the showroom floor.” “A milestone like this wouldn’t be possible without our family of loyal customers and dedicated employees,” Sisbarro continued. “Most of my management team have been with the dealerships for decades, bringing experience, consistency, and a personal touch to every sales and service customer.” While Sisbarro reflects on its history, he is proud of his organization’s designation as the top volume car dealer south of Albuquerque and between Tucson, Arizona, and El Paso, Texas. “Being number one doesn’t happen by accident.  We take care of our customers, and that’s why we have been successful,” Sisbarro added. With rising costs everywhere from the grocery store to the dealership showroom, Sisbarro remains committed to affordability and value—things that have always mattered to the communities it serves. Whether customers are searching for a dependable used vehicle, exploring new models, or taking advantage of service specials, Sisbarro continues to prioritize options that fit a wide range of budgets. As Sisbarro celebrates 45 years, it’s not just about looking back—it’s about moving forward with the same dedication that started it all. A brand-new showroom at Sisbarro Volkswagen will open in late 2026. With strong community ties, a focus on customer satisfaction, and an eye on the future, Sisbarro is well-positioned for many more years of success.

Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport Lineup

2026 VW Atlas Cross Sport Review

Volkswagen has gone above and beyond to offer buyers a comfortable, safe, reasonably sized, and priced SUV that has the looks to match anything from more expensive luxury brands. With its swooping roof, the Atlas Cross Sport has great interior volume for those who don’t quite need as much as the three-row Atlas provides, but still want a larger SUV that has plenty of cargo space. A Fresh Take on The Atlas Cross Sport A new review from David Booth at Driving sees him really enjoy the 2026 Atlas Cross Sport and its multiple talents, saying, “ This is an extremely impressive package overall.” Base Price, Engine, and Trim Levels Starting at $38,775, the Atlas Cross Sport offers five great trim levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line. All models have the same beloved 2.0-liter turbocharged Evo4 engine, producing 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, and only requiring 87 octane gas. While SE models offer standard front-wheel drive, 4Motion® all-wheel drive is optional. All SEL trim levels have AWD as standard. Fuel Economy Is Quite Good With its 8-speed automatic gearbox, the Atlas Cross Sport can be driven sportily or for fuel efficiency, with the EPA estimating that FWD models achieve 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. All-wheel-drive models get just one fewer mile per gallon on the highway. What Driving Had to Say “The other reason to buy the Atlas Cross Sport is its delicious combination of ride and handling. More firmly suspended than most comparable utes, the Cross Sport nonetheless remains quite comfortable. Indeed, on most roads, the increased damping allows better body control, which can actually improve the ride ... Combine that control with exceptional high-speed on-center stability, and the Atlas Cross really is something of a road warrior ... so relaxed did I feel behind the wheel.” Standard Tech Features Each trim level offers, as standard, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB-C ports that support 45 watts of fast charging (a total of 6 ports are available), and a 15-watt wireless phone charger. In front of the driver is a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster display that offers four views, including the option to display your map and navigation needs. The IIHS Says the Cross Sport Is Incredibly Safe Both the Atlas and the Atlas Cross Sport were named by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as Top Safety Pick+ vehicles. This means, of all the cars, trucks, and SUVs on sale today, the Atlas twins are among the safest you can buy. An Amazing Array of Standard Safety Features This is thanks to the superb engineering of the Atlas Cross Sport and the top-notch suite of safety features from IQ.Drive, which is standard on all models. Standard features include Adaptive Front Lighting System with LED headlights and Light Assist auto high beams, Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian & Cyclist Monitoring); Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor); Rear Traffic Alert; Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go; Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System); Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency); Intelligent Crash Response System that disables the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and turns on the hazard lights in the event of an accident; and Exit Warning. Drivers Will Love Travel Assist With front and rear radar, a front camera, and numerous ultrasound sensors to inspect the surrounding area, drivers will love the semi-autonomous Travel Assist, which helps them relax while driving in traffic or on longer highway drives. Sisbarro Volkswagen Can Help You Get into an Atlas Cross Sport Stop by Sisbarro Volkswagen to experience how great the Atlas Cross Sport really is for yourself. While words can help to describe the vehicle, the expert sales team can help you choose between trim levels, packages, and colors while also getting you the best possible price. 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Front Side View

2026 VW Tiguan vs Subaru Forester Hybrid

When it comes to the most popularly purchased Volkswagen, you would expect the company to be rather conservative with the newest generation. Instead, the 2026 Tiguan offers even more for a price that beats much of the competition. MotorTrend Compares The 2026 Tiguan Against the Forester Hybrid This is especially true when you read the latest comparison test from MotorTrend, where the magazine pitted the all-new Tiguan against the all-new 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid. Which one is best for you, though? Pricing and Trim Levels Volkswagen has priced the latest Tiguan right, with a base MSRP of $32,280 and five unique trim levels, including S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and the new-for-2026 SEL R-Line Turbo. While front-wheel drive is standard on the S and both SE trim levels, 4Motion® all-wheel drive is available as an option. The model MotorTrend tested was an SE R-Line Black optioned with AWD, with an as-tested price of $41,070. A Powerful Engine Under the Hood Each S and SE Tiguan comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 201 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque when equipped with FWD and 221 lb-ft with AWD. The top-of-the-line SEL R-Line Turbo offers the same engine, putting out 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired perfectly with an 8-speed automatic transmission that reacts intelligently to both normal and sporty driving. Fuel Economy The EPA estimates that the Tiguan achieves 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and an average of 25 mpg across both cycles. Meet The Forester Hybrid The 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid has a base MSRP of $38,015 and a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine paired with a 1.1-kWh battery pack, for a total of 194 horsepower. The starting price of the top-trim Limited Hybrid that MotorTrend tested is $44,715, with an as-tested price of $45,210. Comparing the Tiguan Against the Forester Hybrid MotorTrend said that while the Forester Hybrid has a comfortable ride, it feels too relaxed for some, with little driving involvement. The Volkswagen, on the other hand, they loved it, even though the Forester Hybrid, unsurprisingly, was better on gas. A Word from MotorTrend “The Tiguan, on the other hand, is eager to keep pulling, much like a Golf GTI. Gone is the lag found in the previous-generation model, with the new Tiguan seeming noticeably sportier. Its eight-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and decisively, helping the SUV be more responsive and torquier ... Overall, we preferred the way the Tiguan handles on the road; it feels like a tool you’re fully in control of.” Standard Safety Features Every VW, including the Tiguan, comes standard with IQ.Drive is an advanced suite of safety convenience features. IQ.Drive includes Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, Lane Assist, Area View, Park Distance Control, Light Assist, Dynamic Road Sign Display, and more. We thank you for trusting us, and we look forward to serving you soon.

Safety Systems on Every New Volkswagen

For their day, the original Volkswagen Beetles didn’t have a poor safety record, but Volkswagen is not likely to put the gas tank in front of the cabin again. And the original Type 2 Bus? Well, it didn’t exactly have a front crumple zone, did it? But that was a very different time for the industry. Today, Sisbarro Volkswagen wants you to know that every current model comes with many safety features to help you avoid a collision in the first place and to better survive one after the fact. As Volkswagen says on its site regarding safety, a lot goes into a VW before you do.  Volkswagen may not tout its safety features in all its advertising, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there.  Every model includes a version of IQ.Drive, an array of safety and driver assistance technologies. To start, every model has a front sonar system. It can detect not only vehicles but also pedestrians, cyclists, and objects in front of you. It is the key sensor for the Front Assist Systems (Forward Collision Warning & Autonomous Emergency Braking w/ Pedestrian Monitoring). It is also key to the very useful Adaptive Cruise control, which lets you use the convenience of cruise control not just on the open highway but also on city highways with moderate traffic, where you can easily keep pace while automatically maintaining a proper distance. There is also a forward-facing camera, a key component of the Lane Assist feature. Lane Assist monitors lane markings on both sides and gently steers the vehicle back into the lane if it drifts outside the lane with no signal engaged. You are expected to keep your hands on the wheel, but it can be particularly useful for those brief moments when you take a drink or briefly turn your attention away from the road. Volkswagen tries to keep blind spots to a minimum, but recognizes that some areas may still be obscured at a glance. The Blind Spot Monitor alerts you to vehicles in your blind spots with a light on the inside housing of either side mirror. Using the same sensors, Rear Traffic Avoidance is particularly useful in a parking lot with large adjacent vehicles blocking your view. It will give you visual and audio alerts if a vehicle is approaching from either side while Reverse is engaged. There are stability-enhancing systems, such as Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD), which help maintain appropriate stopping power during hard braking. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) can adjust engine throttle and apply corrective forces to the wheels that need them most. All Volkswagen vehicles are equipped with a total of six stability-enhancing systems. A modern VW is likely to look awful after a moderate to severe front or rear collision. That is a good thing, as the front and rear of the vehicle are designed with crumple zones that will do just that: crumple to absorb energy and help distribute forces away from the very rigid laser-welded cabin structure. They may look awful, but a closer look may reveal an intact cabin with doors that still open properly. After a collision, the vehicle may still be moving, and the driver may be too dazed to react immediately. The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System can help slow the vehicle further after an impact, reducing the risk of additional collisions. In most collisions, the Intelligent Crash Response System will automatically turn off the fuel pump (on gas-powered models), turn on the interior lights, unlock the doors, and activate the hazard lights. Of course, there are a few items you expect because they are required, such as front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger, and side curtain airbags to protect the heads of both front and rear occupants in a side collision. ABS keeps the tires from locking up and losing traction. Also found on every model is the rear-view camera system, which displays what is behind you on the center screen the moment Reverse is engaged. When you are visiting Sisbarro Volkswagen and looking at new models, your attention will likely be on the feel of the seats, the feel of the controls, and, on a test drive, all of the European-derived vehicle dynamics. It is hard to test the safety features, and we would rather you not, but just know that they are always there.

The Volkswagen Golf R Black Edition Front View

How Does the Volkswagen Golf R Compare to the Toyota GR Corolla?

The award-winning 2026 Volkswagen Golf R is truly the benchmark in the sports compact class. It always has been because of its envelope-pushing performance and driving signature. Enthusiasts know that no other compact performance car can match what the Golf R offers the driver. There are those who believe that there are alternatives to the Golf R. In the last couple of years, the Toyota GR Corolla has emerged as a direct rival to our all-wheel drive “hot hatch.” MotorTrend took the opportunity to compare the two to see which is the best. The 2026 Golf R has a lengthy resume. A 328-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged EA888 four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed DSG transmission, 4Motion all-wheel drive, and Dynamic Chassis Control all make up the main ingredients for the seminal sports compact. The level of refinement is also a calling card for the Golf R. Leather sports seating with an elevated feature list, including 12-way power seat adjustments, Climatronic Touch automatic climate control, a 12.9-inch center display touchscreen, Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster, and the full range of IQ.DRIVE driver assistance features. For the enthusiast looking for more action out of their 2026 Golf R, there is the available Euro Style package. This features a throaty Akrapovic™ titanium exhaust system and European sports seats in ArtVelours cloth. For weight savings, the standard sunroof is deleted. In all, this package reduced the weight of a 2026 Golf R by around 80 pounds. Granted, the GR Corolla is a formidable foe. With all-wheel drive, a 300-horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder engine, and aggressive aerodynamic body add-ons, it gives enthusiasts a choice of hot hatches. However, MotorTrend points out that it is a matter of choosing between “thunder” and “lightning.” Or, in another way of putting it, “streetwear” versus a “suit.” MotorTrend worked through this comparison by measuring each vehicle’s overall performance. The Golf R was quicker in every respect – sprinting in 4.1 seconds from 0-60 MPH, reaching 100 MPH in 10.2 seconds, and the quarter mile drag in 12.6 seconds. The DSG shifts better, thanks to smooth gear changes and no weight transfer. They even noted that the cabin is quieter overall. In the end, MotorTrend declared its current Car of the Year, the Golf R, as the winner. They noted its refinement, comfort, and practicality. It does so at a “higher level” than the GR Corolla. The Volkswagen Golf R defines what a sports compact should always aspire to be. It is why the enthusiast crowd always dreams of owning one. If you are one of those dreamers, contact us at Sisbarro Volkswagen, and we can show you all the great things the Golf R has to offer for those who want a better overall driving experience.

VW Fuel Efficiency Tips: Maximizing Your Vehicle's MPG

Maximizing VW fuel efficiency is essential for saving money on gas and reducing your carbon footprint. Having your car serviced regularly by a Volkswagen dealer is one way to achieve the best MPG possible. There are numerous other tips and tricks you can employ. Utilize VW Technologies Many features and technologies in Volkswagens benefit fuel economy, such as TSI engines, Active Cylinder Management (ACT), start/stop technology, a dual-clutch gearbox (DSG), the Eco driving mode, regenerative braking in hybrid vehicles, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Among driver assistance technologies, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) keeps your VW moving economically at a consistent speed. Watch Your Speed Although it varies between vehicles, the optimum speed for achieving the best fuel economy is usually around 50 mph. Of course, this speed is too slow on most highways, but there are other strategies you can use on "faster" roads (e.g., use of cruise control). Staying under the speed limit is legally wise and saves money. Calm Your Acceleration Rapid acceleration from every stop light or intersection adversely affects fuel economy. You end up paying more for the small gains you make in urban settings. Other frenetic behaviors like harsh braking also waste gas, as they're part of a manic driving pattern that increases engine load. Aiming for smooth speed transitions uses less fuel and keeps passengers comfortable. Stop Idling When you're parked or stuck in stationary traffic for longer than a minute, turn your engine off if you don't have start-stop technology. Absent the latter, the U.S. Department of Energy recommends limiting engine starts to roughly ten a day to avoid excessive starter wear. Reduce Vehicle Weight and Drag Carrying unnecessary weight in your VW negatively impacts fuel economy. Extra weight increases the energy needed to accelerate and maintain speed. Items fixed to a roof rack cause significant drag, too, so other solutions might be preferable over long distances. Keeping windows closed also helps. Let Your Volkswagen Dealer Service the AC System Although air conditioning is always detrimental to fuel efficiency, you can limit its negative effect by keeping it in good working order. Your VW dealer can safely maintain the AC system and recharge it when necessary. Replace the Air Filter Regularly The engine air filter directly affects the amount of air entering the engine for combustion. If it's clogged, the ECU of a modern VW senses the lower airflow and adjusts the fuel delivery accordingly, causing an often appreciable loss of power and a likely loss of efficiency in a bid to protect the engine. Contact Sisbarro Autoworld Volkswagen in Las Cruces, NM to schedule a car service for your VW and optimize its efficiency.

The Ultimate Guide to Volkswagen Brake Maintenance

Regular brake maintenance not only helps avoid pricey repairs down the line but also keeps your ride smooth and reliable. Here's how to stay on top of your brakes, courtesy of your Volkswagen dealer. Routine Brake Checks Make it a habit to have your brakes checked at the dealership about once a year or every 12,000 miles. This regular check-up is key to spotting any potential issues from pad wear to leaks before they turn into bigger problems. It's a simple step that can save you a lot of hassle later. Watch Your Brake Pads Brake pads get a workout every time you stop your car, wearing down over time due to constant friction. Check their thickness now and then, and if they're less than 3mm thick, it's time for a change. Brake pads that are too worn may squeak or squeal loudly when you apply the brakes, making it easier to tell if it's time to get them changed. Fresh brake pads keep your stops smooth and also protect other parts of your braking system. Stay on Top of Brake Fluid Brake fluid helps to transfer pedal pressure into stopping power. Over time, it can pick up moisture, which can make it less effective. Check the fluid levels often and swap it out as needed, which is usually every two or three years. Check Those Rotors While you're looking at your brake pads, don't forget about the rotors. They need to be checked for wear and warping. If they're worn down or warped beyond a certain point, replacing them is a must to keep your braking crisp and effective. Calipers and Brake Lines Need Love Too Is your car pulling to one side when you brake or not stopping as well as it should? You may have sticking calipers or leaky brake lines. Any sign of wear or damage to these parts can lead to serious brake problems, so address any issues here as soon as they crop up. Pay Attention to Dashboard Lights Modern Volkswagens are pretty smart. If your car senses that something's wrong with your brakes, a brake warning light will appear on your dashboard. As soon as it does, you should take your car in for a professional brake inspection. Schedule Brake Maintenance at Our Las Cruces, NM Volkswagen Dealership For thorough inspections and any required maintenance, it's best to head to your local VW dealership in Las Cruces, NM. Our technicians are trained specifically for your vehicle and use genuine VW parts. Getting your brakes serviced by professionals ensures top-notch work and keeps your car within warranty standards. Maintaining your brakes is all about keeping ahead of potential issues. With regular checks and preventative services, you can ensure your brakes will always be ready when you need them. Call Sisbarro Volkswagen in Las Cruces, NM, to schedule your next brake service right away.

The Importance of Wheel Alignment on Your Volkswagen

Misaligned wheels can ruin your steering, reduce fuel efficiency, harm your tires, and cause various other problems. This is why all drivers should have the wheels of their cars periodically aligned. Let's take a more detailed look at the importance of regular wheel alignment at our Volkswagen dealership. Keep Your Tires in Good Shape for Longer Over time, all cars have their tires slowly pushed out of perfect alignment by repeated small impacts with curbs, parking stanchions, potholes, and speed bumps. Loose or worn-out suspension parts can also cause wheels to shift out of shape. The resulting wheel misalignment gradually causes the tires to wear unevenly, shortening their lifespan. When tires become uneven, they need to be rotated or replaced more frequently, which can amount to a significant expense over time. Maintain a Valid Tire Warranty If you have a valid tire warranty, you may need to routinely align your wheels in order to keep the warranty from voiding. It's best to check the details of your warranty for any stipulations regarding wheel realignment, and then stick to those guidelines. Maintain Precise Steering and Handling A car with misaligned wheels becomes harder to handle. You may find your vehicle pulling slightly to one side and eventually, you might need to hold your steering wheel at an awkward angle to compensate for the misalignment. This reduces your driving pleasure and also poses a safety hazard; any reduction in steering accuracy increases the risk of an accident. Enjoy a Smoother, More Serene Ride When the wheels are perfectly parallel, your car will be smooth and quiet on the road. The more individual wheels start to tilt or angle away from the others, the noisier and rougher your drives will become. Drive Farther on Each Full Tank of Gas Misaligned wheels create more friction and road resistance. This means the engine needs to generate more force to push your car forward, which increases the car's gas mileage. Save Money on Vehicle Repairs All the parts of a car are intricately connected together: when one piece malfunctions, the connected components also suffer. With misaligned wheels, the tires, differentials, and various parts of the drivetrain are all put under undue strain. This leads to more damage and repair jobs down the road. Understanding Your VW's Check Engine Light: What It Means and What to Do

The check engine light can seem mysterious, as it doesn't identify a specific problem. Despite this, it's probably the most important warning light in your vehicle. As your Volkswagen dealer in Las Cruces, NM we'd like to tell you about this light and some reasons it might illuminate. How Does It Work? The engine light connects to your car's computer. Your VW has a vast network of sensors, and each sensor connects to an essential component or system. The sensors receive instructions from your computer and relay information to the computer so it can make decisions. The sensors also monitor their connected component's health and warn the computer if something goes wrong. When your computer is advised that a component is in trouble, it logs the problem with an error code and illuminates the engine light. Sensors can identify minute changes in their component so they warn of issues when they first start. If the engine light comes on, we advise visiting our service department ASAP so we can identify and fix the issue. Identifying the Problem We connect your car's computer to our diagnostic system. This system reads the error codes logged by the computer which points our technicians to the issue very quickly. Diagnostics saves time that would otherwise be spent on checking healthy systems, which dramatically reduces your repair costs. Now we know how the system works, let's look at some of the situations that will cause the light to illuminate. Blocked Catalytic Converter The catalytic converter converts dangerous chemicals produced by combustion into harmless ones and water. The converter does this utilizing a combination of extreme pressure, chemical reactions, and great heat. The converted chemicals then pass out of the exhaust. If the converter is blocked, engine gases are forced back into the engine. Their presence increases pressure in the engine, and the increased pressure can cause stalling or force your engine to shut down. We can fix the situation by clearing the blockage. Loose Fuel Cap A loose fuel cap can cause serious problems. Air can enter the fuel system and the pressure will drop. In addition, air bubbles can potentially form and cause blockages. If this happens, you'll experience misfiring or stalling. In addition, fuel vapor will escape due to the loose cap, and fuel economy will drop. Sensors connected to the fuel cap will recognize the cap isn't secure and inform the computer immediately. This is an easy fix, as we'll re-secure the cap. If the cap is secure but damaged or leaking, we can fit a new cap for you. An illuminated light is always a sign something is wrong. VW Transmission

When to Schedule Your Volkswagen for Transmission Service in Las Cruces, NM

You should schedule transmission service at your Volkswagen dealership on a mileage-based schedule, but you may also need checkups on your transmission in between your regular service checks. This is because things can go wrong despite regular maintenance, so you may need to get your transmission repaired unexpectedly. When It's Been 30,000 to 80,000 Miles Since Your Last Service Your transmission needs regular maintenance, and you'll usually schedule your service visits based on how many miles you've driven. Consult your owner's manual to see if it tells you how often you should be getting your transmission checked. Most people need a transmission checkup after every 30,000 to 80,000 miles. When Your Car Starts Making New Noises Cars that start to make new sounds always need to be taken straight to the dealership. These noises are always a sign of trouble. If your transmission is the problem, the new noises will show up when you're switching gears or when your car is in neutral. When You Smell Something Burning Burning smells should never be ignored. Most often, they tell you that part of your car is overheating. The part that's overheating might be the transmission. Sometimes old transmission fluid can burn up, too, creating a burning smell. When Your Car Won't Stay in Gear If your car seems to have a mind of its own and won't stay in the correct gear while you're driving, then your transmission needs to be looked at. You may slip out of gear when you're accelerating and decelerating, and this issue can endanger you, your passengers, and other people on the road. When Your Car Has Trouble Switching Gears If you have to push the gear shift really hard to get the gears to change, then there's most likely a problem somewhere in your transmission system. It's not normal to have to force your car into gear, so the car should be looked at by a mechanic at the dealership. When Your Car Can't Switch Gears You may not just have trouble switching gears when your car needs a checkup on its transmission. Sometimes you'll find that you can't switch gears at all. If this is the case, then you need to get towed to the dealer as soon as possible. When Your Car Shakes or Jolts You should always expect your gear changes to be smooth. If you feel a shaking, jerking, or kicking sensation coming from your car during gear changes, make sure you visit our service center.
